Daily Clarity contains four clinically studied ingredients – each at the dose shown to make a difference in peer-reviewed research. Nothing proprietary-blended. Nothing hidden.
Every ingredient. A reason. A dose.
Citicoline
What it is
Citicoline (also known as CDP-choline) is a naturally occurring compound found in every cell of the human body. It serves as a precursor to phosphatidylcholine, one of the primary structural components of brain cell membranes, and supports the synthesis of acetylcholine – a neurotransmitter central to memory, attention, and cognitive function.
Why this dose
Clinical studies on citicoline have used doses ranging from 250mg to 500mg per day. At 300mg, Daily Clarity delivers a dose consistently shown to support memory recall and mental focus without overreaching into ranges with diminishing returns.
Key research note
A 2021 randomized controlled trial published in Nutrients found that 12 weeks of citicoline supplementation at 500mg/day significantly improved attention, psychomotor speed, and memory in healthy adults. Our 300mg dose reflects a conservative, evidence-based position within this range.
L-Theanine
What it is
L-Theanine is an amino acid found naturally in green tea leaves. It promotes alpha-wave brain activity – the mental state associated with calm, relaxed alertness – without causing drowsiness or sedation.
Why this dose
200mg is the most studied effective dose for L-Theanine's focus and calm-alertness benefits. It's also the dose most frequently paired with caffeine in research – but in Daily Clarity, it works independently, producing a cleaner, softer version of the same effect without any stimulant reliance.
Key research note
Multiple randomized trials have demonstrated that L-Theanine at 200mg reduces perceived stress and improves attention reaction time in adults experiencing mental fatigue. It works within hours of ingestion and builds cumulatively with consistent use.
Rhodiola Rosea
What it is
Rhodiola Rosea is an adaptogenic herb that has been used for centuries in traditional medicine across Scandinavia and Russia — specifically in environments requiring high mental performance under physical and psychological stress. Modern research has identified its active compounds (rosavins and salidroside) as the primary mechanisms behind its adaptogenic effects.
Why this dose
Research on Rhodiola Rosea for mental fatigue and stress resilience has used doses from 170mg to 680mg per day. At 200mg, Daily Clarity captures the evidence-supported lower end of the therapeutic range – enough to produce meaningful effects on mental fatigue and stress response without the diminishing returns seen at higher doses.
Key research note
A landmark study published in Phytomedicine found that Rhodiola Rosea extract significantly reduced mental fatigue and improved cognitive performance in physicians working night shifts — one of the highest-stress, highest-cognitive-demand environments in professional life.
Saffron Extract
What it is
Saffron is one of the most clinically interesting and underappreciated ingredients in nootropic research. Beyond its culinary use, saffron extract has been shown to modulate serotonin, dopamine, and glutamate pathways in the brain, producing measurable effects on mood, emotional resilience, and baseline mental wellbeing.
Why this dose
28mg of standardized saffron extract (affron® standardized to 3.5% lepticrosalide) is the dose used in the most rigorous human trials showing significant improvements in mood and stress resilience. This is a precision dose — meaningful effects begin at this level, and higher amounts have not shown proportionally greater benefit.
Key research note
A 2019 randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Affective Disorders found that saffron extract at 28mg/day significantly improved mood and reduced feelings of psychological stress in adults with subclinical symptoms – without the side effects associated with pharmaceutical interventions.
We could have included more ingredients. We chose not to. A focused formula at clinical doses outperforms a long list of trace amounts every time.
